The Biffy Before

So, I thought I would get some of the before pictures up so you can see all the details. My husband always wants to see all the details and mechanics of a "new" Airstream, but I enjoy looking at the layout and decorations! This is the most exciting part of our "new" Airstream - the biffy, so I will start here. The bathroom is in the rear with the shower & tub on the curbside. The toilet has a black water tank under that beautiful yellow linoleum stool.
Our shower head is permanent on the wall. There is a beautiful curved tub - which actually doesn't look very used. My husband is talking about painting it, but I think it's good!

There is a towel bar and sprayer by the toilet. There is also a small medicine cabinet above the toilet that is pretty far gone from a leak around the black water tank vent.

The vanity with a sink is on the back wall. My best friend loves the curtains - although I don't think they are original. They are shower curtain material. I may use that fringe on a new color of curtain.

The mirror has the white latch to move it when parked, but it attaches up to the wall to keep it steady down the road.
So there it is, it seems that we have a standard bathroom. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that it came with blue shag rug on the floor!! I ripped that out first thing when we got home - it had a smell that was everlasting.

A New Blog!

I have decided to change the format of this site a little, by taking the frugal shopping, etc. and putting it on it's own blog. You can check out my new blog at http://spartasavings.blogspot.com. I will be putting money saving tips, great deals, budgeting ideas and more on that blog and will keep this blog to primarily to Airstream Memories! I hope you will enjoy the commentary and the adventures we have with our Airstreams! I hope to hear from you all.

It Never Ends

At this point, I am convinced that my husband just likes to tear apart things. Every time he goes out to the 1963 Ambassador to work on it, he takes it further apart! At this rate, he will be still putting it together when we retire, which will be at least 25 years from now!! Our four-year-old will be extremely disappointed when he runs out of things to take apart, which I hope will be soon!
What started out to be an attempt at just removing the floor piece by piece and then a quick replacement has now turned into an entire gut, and then some in my opinion! First, the furniture came out to make the floor replacement easier, then the bathroom. Now, the insulation under the lower section of the skin needs to be checked. The trailer seems to have leaks – everywhere and mouse duty in the insulation, so the entire inner skin needs to be taken off to properly repair all the wires, leaks, and of course the insulation!
Needless to say, we don’t seem to have progress, but have regressed to the point of no return. At some point, I am convinced that my husband will be down to the bare bones, and can only start putting it back together from there. With a little help from Christmas presents of tools and Menard’s cards, we hope to be able to report soon of progression towards putting things back where they belong. We pray for continued heat waves in the Midwest of mid-30’s so that progress can continue!

Wisconsin Dells Waterpark Deal!

I haven't posted recently because we have had the flu, Christmas cookie baking & so much more - but we took a break yesturday and I wanted to share with you the deal I found! If you are in the Wisconsin Dells area, you can stay at any of the rooms in the Raintree Waterpark hotel for only $55 a night! (Click the title above for a view of the rooms and waterpark!) I couldn't believe, it but this special goes on until December 23rd! We had a King 2 room suite with 2 queen beds, and a double pull-out couch. We were able to go swimming all day with our 4 kids and my mom - no extra costs! The room has a refrigerator & microwave, so we brought sandwiches, snacks, etc. for our meals. You really can't beat the price for fun for a day for 7 people. The staff was all very nice, also! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I couldn't post a picture for you, but the website does do a great job for you!
